Seller terms
The short version: your shop is yours, your food is your responsibility, and we never handle your money.
Bakeverly never takes payment
We do not process card payments, hold funds, or take a cut of what you sell. A customer places an order here; you contact them and arrange payment however you already do — cash, transfer, whatever suits you both. Anything that goes wrong with a payment is between you and your customer, and we have no record of it beyond what you choose to mark as paid.
Food safety and licensing are yours
Cottage food rules differ by state, county and sometimes by city. Whether you need to register, what you may sell, how you must label it and where you may hand it over are all decided by the place you live in, not by us.
We do not require a registration number to open a shop, and we do not check one if you give us it. That is deliberate — plenty of good bakers are still working out whether they need to register. It also means the responsibility for getting it right is entirely yours.
Allergens
If you tick the allergen box on an item you are stating that you have checked the recipe. Until you do, that item is hidden from anyone filtering for an allergy — we treat silence as unsafe rather than as free-from, and we will not describe your baking as free from anything you have not told us about.
Getting an allergen declaration wrong can make somebody seriously ill. Check your ingredients, including the ones you did not think of — flavourings, sprinkles, and anything made in a factory alongside nuts.
What you publish
Your photographs, your descriptions and your prices are yours, and you can take them down whenever you like. By publishing them you let us show them on Bakeverly, in search results, and in emails to people who follow your shop.
Do not publish photographs you did not take, or describe food you do not make.
Reviews
Reviews can only be left by somebody who placed a real order that you marked as collected, using a link we email to them. You cannot delete a review you dislike, and neither can we on request. You can reply to one, and you can report one that breaks the rules.
We can suspend a shop
If a shop is misrepresenting itself, ignoring an allergen problem, or is not a real baker, we will take it offline. Anybody can report a shop, and we look at every report. Where it is not urgent we will contact you first.
Leaving
Take your shop offline from your dashboard at any time; nothing is deleted and you can put it back up. Ask us to delete your account and we will remove your shop, your products and your photographs. Order records are kept, without your customers’ contact details, because they are the basis of the reviews other people relied on.
No promises about how much you will sell
The pricing tools on this platform work from numbers you type in. They are arithmetic, not a forecast, and nothing here is a projection of what you will earn.
